Got an iPhone? Then, bring a little taste of Engine Heart to it.

The track is a little swirly ambient piece, Tremendo Culo. The iPhone faithfully reproduces the track as the 320kps MP3 was converted into an AAC variant (m4r) with very little loss in quality.

If you’ve got an iPhone - download the track now, and sync it to your device using iTunes. There are other formats too, so you can enjoy it (ha!) on less capable devices.

This track evokes a kind of reluctant nostalgia and earnest soul searching that only ambient music (both making and listening) can evoke. This is a beat-less piece, with a subtle shaped buzz-hum standing in as a baseline to the delicate piano melody that dominates this track.

Mostly because the tracks I wrote seemed a little dated (even though I still like some of them), and it was easier to prepare for a DJ gig than it was to write music.... This is the original full length version, a minute or three longer than is probably necessary to get the point across.

In 2004, the promotion company I co-founded, was asked to put together a showcase for the Florida Music Festival. Instead of performing a DJ set, I set out to write 45 minutes of original music. Many of those early experiments are posted on this site. I continued working on music though the beginning of 2005.

Then, nothing.

I guess I was busy, and the few gigs I could squeeze in, I ended up DJing for. Mostly because the tracks I wrote seemed a little dated (even though I still like some of them), and it was easier to prepare for a DJ gig than it was to write music.

Then in March 2007, I got inspired again to work on some new tracks. The first of those is presented here.

Fox on Fire, is a contemplative downtempo exploration. It was one of my first successful attempts at writing my own original melodies, as opposed to sampling them from loops. The drums are subtle but earnest. And the vocal samples give it a cool pseudo-tribal feel.

This is the original full length version, a minute or three longer than is probably necessary to get the point across.

how cool is a song about ass fucking? pretty fucking cool. except the song really isn’t about that, per se. never mind that is was created by writing the track over a sample lifted from an anal sex scene, starring a one jenna haze (hence the title).

musically, the track cums on like a pounding orgasm. (pun dutifully intended) with the beats interacting with our fair starlet, in a way that suggests that the rhythm itself is the one sheathed in latex and penetrating her. it bores thru the listener, transporting them to the couch the scene takes place on and putting them in the driver’s seat, so to speak.

ron jeremy is sure to be as proud as i am for creating this track, as it is as titillating to listen to, as it was exhilarating to make. a bastardization of the video that the audio was sampled from is in the works - stay tuned.

i was honoured when r_garcia asked me to provide a remix for our good friend jeremy isen (labtob), for his new album, out on nophi recordings. the catch was i had to have it ready in 2 days.

the track was done by slicing up the beats in sound forge, and then arranging and effecting them in ableton live. the beats are mostly just millisecond clips of the original bleepy beats, arranged purposefully and using effected samples of labtob’s original melodies. the opening sample came from a text-to-speech app we used as an opener to an improv performance me, labtob and randy did at the peacock room one thursday evening. i still think the way it says labtob is funny.
