A special birthday set that was recorded last year. Please enjoy this intimate portrait of my inner life. These are the tracks that I usually don’t play for anyone, and mean a great deal to me, as each one speaks to me on a very deep level.

It was podcast on the polyvi.be site, as well as a different (and shorter version) - one that was was originally posted here - was also made available last January.

For the first time, it is made available here in its entirety.

Namaste.

Deep in the darkest pits of your imagination, lies a dormant force. A force more sick and violent than your own conscious mind will even dare let you dream of during your waking hours. And only one thing can at once raise such a force, and subdue it. Out of all the halloween mixes I’ve done. This is the only one that’s ever been recorded. I hope to correct this by recording all 5 sets from the Demonic DJs (including yours truly) spinning (hard drive) platters at my annual Halloween Party. a hybrid live pa/dj set. performed and recorded at natura coffee house, orlando, fl on Nov, 9, 2004. Thanks to tangent for hosting me!

This is a noisy hybrid live pa/dj set in the snugglish style. Lots of glitchy tones, and densely layered samples, and a nod or two to this set. It was an experiment performed and recorded at natura coffee and tea in Orlando, FL - Nov, 9, 2004.

The sound quality is shit. That was just my PC being overloaded by multiple open windows of traktor, ableton, itunes, windows media player, and quicktime. and probably a loose cord in there somewhere. whew.

Special Thanks to Andy (hi-dm) for inviting me out to play this with him.

In 2003, after releasing two other Tek-Hop mixes, and in celebration of the first ever ezRPM showcase at Back Booth, I reprised and expanded these mixes into an 80 minute live onslaught or hip-hop fueled IDM madness. I recently uploaded this mix to the site, but since I back-dated to the day/month/year of the original performance, it is not going to show up in the podcast feed, hence the little bump here.

Back in early 2000s, I really got into a new sound being innovated by the likes of Machine Drum, Prefuse 73, Kid606, Original Hamsta, and many others. I called this sound Tek-Hop.

caffe da vinci is this unique coffee house / antique store / art gallery in deland, fl. gar bailey booked the gig, as he had some of his art being showcased there. this set is as eccentric as caffe da vinci is, as it starts out as moody cotemplative dark set, but strives to be a four-on-the-floor, summer party mix towards the end. wierd samples and voice overs abound in this set.

dark and brooding like an ex-raver fed up with the undanceability of most modern IDM music, this compu-hyper-global-mega-net mix is at once both a big fuck-you to the IDM nay-sayers calling for it’s death (which may be more than a little bit true), as it is a dirty triumph of dance music as a whole. the mix digs deep into the vault and pulls out all of the tracks that made me take a double-take while on my iPod’s rotation. who knew those tracks i had been earmarking for my next dj set would fit together so well? all of these songs have one thing in common, a pounding desire to make you shake your ass, as well as cause your brain to jump-up and say hell-yeah! with all of the power contained in the dopey rhythms of IDM’s back side, with a little adult swim playfulness thrown in for good measure.

this mix was performed live at knock knock on 5.25.2005.

This mix starts out meditative and a little dubby. And keeps your head nodding until the very end. That is, until it turns on you about half way through and ups the glitch ante. Then your head nodding, turns into some well placed sonic face slaps. Don’t cringe, its good for you!

This was my first set of the night. The second set can be found in another post. The mix draws from tracks that I put in other mixes. It was done during a time when I was toying with the idea of creating mixes from mixed segments… In other words, piecing together other mix segments into a new mix… sort of like William S. Burrough’s cut-up technique. Listening back to it now, I can hear parts of Meow Mix and Independent Thinker.

This one should leave you in weird place.

The other was a private home party of my friend Betsy. That set wasn’t recorded.

The next morning, with only a mild hang over, I played this mix for the few people that stayed over her house that night. Mixed while drinking fresh, home made Bloody Marys. Its a straight ahead downtempo mix, perfect for New Years Morning.

However, the mix warms right up to the idea that there are brains that need raping, and moves full on into a offensive diatribe of sex, drugs and rock in roll. Rounds out a bit of mash-up love. Halloween. One of my favorite times of year. Not only do I throw a huge costume party every year, but I also spend time compiling a special Halloween DJ set. This is one of the few of these sets that have gotten recorded. It goes all over the board, but keeps its creepy theme through out. Download This Mix, and let your inner ghoul rock the fuck out.

An epic mix that puts many left-field dance tracks at the fore front, and combines it with a touch of Venetian Snares insanity. Great progression and journey, as well as tracks that ‘talk about each other’, when you read between the lines. One of my all-time favorite mixes.

In the early 00’s, I really got into a new sound that was starting to emerge. It was pioneered by the likes of Machine Drum and Prefuse 73, and many referred to it as Glitch-Hop. I was especially enamored when classic 80s rap tracks were given this treatment. The resulting love of this genre spawned three mixes. This is Volume 1.
