Out of all the halloween mixes I’ve done. This is the only one that’s ever been recorded. I hope to correct this by recording all 5 sets from the Demonic DJs (including yours truly) spinning (hard drive) platters at my annual Halloween Party. Central Florida readers should email for an invite.

This is a noisy hybrid live pa/dj set in the snugglish style. Lots of glitchy tones, and densely layered samples, and a nod or two to this set. It was an experiment performed and recorded at natura coffee and tea in Orlando, FL - Nov, 9, 2004.

The sound quality is shit. That was just my PC being overloaded by multiple open windows of traktor, ableton, itunes, windows media player, and quicktime. and probably a loose cord in there somewhere. whew.

Back in early 2000s, I really got into a new sound being innovated by the likes of Machine Drum, Prefuse 73, Kid606, Original Hamsta, and many others. I called this sound Tek-Hop.

In 2003, after releasing two other Tek-Hop mixes, and in celebration of the first ever ezRPM showcase at Back Booth, I reprised and expanded these mixes into an 80 minute live onslaught of hip-hop fueled IDM madness.

I recently uploaded this mix to the site, but since I back-dated it to the day/month/year of the original performance, it is not going to show up in the podcast feed, hence the little bump here. If you like what you hear here, check out Tek Hop 1 and Tek Hop 2 as well.

This was my first set of the night. The second set can be found in another post. The mix draws from tracks that I put in other mixes. It was done during a time when I was toying with the idea of creating mixes from mixed segments… In other words, piecing together other mix segments into a new mix… sort of like William S. Burrough’s cut-up technique. Listening back to it now, I can hear parts of Meow Mix and Independent Thinker.

This one should leave you in weird place.

When the PUSH nights died, a new weekly IDM showcase was born. This mix was prepared and recorded live at the first Egyptian Zombie Robot Party Machine event, that took place at the Back Booth in Orlando, FL. It draws upon the Tek Hop series of mixes that I did in 2002 (here and here), and extends the premise and pushes it forward, far into the end of this genre. Includes tracks by Original Hamsta, Machine Drum, Prefuse 73, Kid 606, and Richard Cheese — to name a few.

I was especially enamored when classic 80s rap tracks were given this treatment. The resulting love of this genre spawned three mixes. This is Volume 1.
